February Love Me Beauty Box

In retrospect, I guess I should have known.

Don't get me wrong, my first beauty box as exactly what I expected: a lovely mix of products, some of which I wouldn't have thought twice about buying, for myself. That said, I think this edition of the Love Me Beauty Box wasn't designed with me in mind... and yet I still ordered it.

Awk-ward.

But let's look at the positive aspects. This box contained 5 products, four as advertised and a surprise one, which is supposed to be a "Hero Product." I've so far used each and every one of these, so here are some mini-reviews:

The Percy and Reed No Fuss Flawlessness Dry Conditioner (retails at 12 GBP) is pretty self-explanatory. Basically, you spray it on directly or your hairbrush for softer, shinier hair. Now, mine's pretty short, so I wasn't sure how useful this would be for me, but I tried it this morning and oh-la-la! Immediate results, just... my hair felt so soft, you guys! I can't believe it. I couldn't stop feeling it all morning, and the best thing is, it doesn't turn it into a haystack like a dry shampoo and it doesn't feel like an oilslick like... well, if I've used too much of the wrong conditioner. It's just right, and that's on day-old hair.

I have read others complain about the scent (cucumber) but I didn't notice it much, mostly because I applied this on my hairbrush first. I think as far as drawbacks go, this one's fairly easy to side-step. Also, this is a minor thing: I love the design of the packaging, but the lid just keeps popping off and I'm not sure how much I like that. Still, fairly nice thing to have - as a full-sized product, I'll be using it for a long, long time.

I also got a full-size of The Bakewell Soap Company's Multi-Purpose Pocket Balm in Lavender and Lemon (retails at 5.45 GBP) and this is one of the primary reasons why I chose this edition of the box over the others. I know lavender is supposed to be something of an old lady scent, but I've been enjoying it a lot in my Lush Eau Roma toner and the Original Source shower gels, so I thought this might be a good product to have. And while I don't particularly like this on my lips (a bit too thick), it does miracles for dry hands, and the scent is so smoothing.

La Caree's Gentle Cleansing Milk (15 GBP full size, but I had a miniature one) was a pretty timely product to receive - I was away for a Jiu Jitsu seminar/competition over the weekend, which meant that I needed to pack a bag (post upcoming) and I didn't feel like bringing a full-sized bottle of make-up remover. This is definitely a lovely product to bring along - it takes off my make-up without irritating my skin or stripping it of moisture, and it just feels really nice. The only drawback is that I can't get it out of the bottle easily, which is a pain, but it's definitely a nice offering.

Dr. Bragi's Age Management Moisturiser (sample, but retails at 120 GBP for a full size O.O) is probably the thing that should have tipped me off that this box wasn't meant for me, but at the time, I was suffering from a really bad skin reaction and I thought a good moisturiser would save me. Aaaand... I haven't have a chance to really give it a go, but when I popped it on for the first time, it was fairly nice, and it didn't cause some intense counter-reaction, so... yey?

The Nip + Fab Dry Leg Fix  (10.25 BGP on Boots) was my surprise product and... yeah, pretty disappointing, but I guess that's because I'm really not the target audience for this. A leg cream to firm and mositurise, I can only take advantage of one of its benefits, and it's completely countered by the fact that this number smells like medicine. Actual sore throat medicine, and I'm one of those people who doesn't like to be reminded of times when she was sick.

I mean, it is pretty moisturising, but I can get the same benefit from my Nivea Body Lotion, for only a fraction of the price.

So yeah, this foray into beauty boxes was a mixed basket - some things I loved, others I did not. I do think someone with more mature skin would appreciate the products I didn't like much more than I did, so if that rocks your boat, do go on the Love Me Beauty website and try that one out. At ten pounds plus P&P, it's a pretty good bargain.
