Review: Rimmel's Apocalips
Oh, Apocalips... what am I to say about you that everyone has not yet said?
Confession - this review was originally just one long bash of this product, because I really, really, really didn't like it. And then I wore it a little bit more, and I changed my mind.
The truth is, I'm not sure how to feel about this, really. When I first bought it, I absolutely hated it. It might have had something to do with the fact that I'm not really a lipgloss kind of girl.
Perhaps it was the shade? Luna is, after all, a pretty nude colour, and even if I went by the rule "2 shades deeper or lighter than your natural" it still seemed too light on me. Whenever I'd put it on, the colour would just disappear in the creases of my lips, which would mean I'd have to put on more, build it up until I looked like a circus clown (and those of you who have read Angela Carter know, there is nothing more tragic than a clown. Hell, all it takes is an Edith Piaf song to convince you of that.)
So yeah, not a very positive review. However, over the past week, spring has been shyly springing, and I found myself bored with my lipsticks. (As you do.) For some reason, none of the shades I own felt right - I wanted something demure, hydrating, shiny.... oh, hi, Apocalips!
Suddenly, I'm wearing this all the time and I'm loving it. (The complete lack of nude/soft colour lipsticks in my collection might be a contributing factor.) I actually love how it looks once it dries out, and suddenly, the fact that it's much lighter than the shade of my lips doesn't matter. It just looks... nice. Like, really, really, nice.
And I'm glad I didn't schedule this post for earlier.
Available in most supermarkets, Boots and Superdrug.
