I was originally going to call this post "Purchase Regrets", but the truth is that, much as I regret some of these purchases, for the most part, I just feel kinda ambivalent about these (also, I didn't buy all of these.) And while it's important to highlight regrets in their own posts, there should be something said about the things you buy and then wonder why you even bothered.
Because the picture is a little unclear, here's what there is: the Collection's BB cream and mascara, MUA's Matte Palette, Boots essentials' cleansing lotion and eye gel, a Bourjois Khol and Contour pencil, a glitter eyeliner, and Rimmel's "In Love With Gigner."
Yeah, not a very likely lineup.
The Collection make-up has its own post already, so I'll just say both products were a disappointment and leave it at that. The Boots essentials' products were a cheap cop-out, but neither of them has been particularly offensive to me either (there were some make-up wipes from that range as well. They did their job and that's all I have to say about it.)
The Bourjois pencil is not so much there because of its quality (it's a product I got as a gift, actually, and came highly recommended.) It's more of a stand-in for the products in my collection that really don't make sense on me - the black eyeliners and eye pencils, the too-dark neutrals. None of these look good on me - whenever I wear them, I feel like it makes me look much older than my age, and it's not really a spring look. The only way I can wear this particular pencil is by smudging it out, and that's still pushing it a lot.
The sparkle eyeliner was something I bought just as I was getting into make-up, as a sort of highlight shade (because I didn't know any better.)
The MUA palette was a different story. The newest addition of the lot, it's that product I thought I was going to love, but having swatched it twice now... I just don't know. I don't feel like I can work the shades well enough, and since it is a naturals palette, it's kinda bummer for spring. I shouldn't feel so bad about it, considering it was just four quid, but still, I don't like it, and I'm really frustrated with Superdrug for not letting me return it. (Yes, I know, hygiene reasons, but if that's the case, they should have made it possible for us to swatch the shadows in store first! Ugh.)
So far, there's a common theme here - either me not knowing better or knowing better but trying to save money has landed me with products I barely use. Rimmel's "In Love With Ginger" lipstick is probably the only exception to the rule - a product I absolutely wanted and absolutely love, but one I am far too chicken to wear outside my bedroom. (Note to self: fix that!)
What are the make-up products in your collection which you have no idea why you got?
