DIY facial toner

I could have just gone to Lush.

But then I thought, I have an empty spritzer bottle, why not take advantage of the Penny Sale while it lasts and stock up on essential oils, and also dabble my hand in making my own toner?

Here's what I did:

Put in 10 drops of essential tangerine oil
Added 5 drops of tea tree oil
Followed up with a dash of miscellar water
Topped up the rest with regular tap water
Shook it like a salt shaker

And then I spritzed.

I originally thought I would use miscellar water only, seeing as the other home-made toner recipes I'd seen used glycerin, but pouring it into the spritzer bottle proved too hard. So I knocked it off.

So far, I'm rather pleased with the result. Because tea tree water is so strong-smelling, it pushes any other scents to the back, which is a bit of a bummer, but now and again, I get a whiff of tangerine, which is lovely.

All in all, it was a valiant first try. And since I have a ton of essential oils left, they'll be able to pay themselves a hundred times over.

What is your favourite toner formulation? Have you considered making one yourself?

  1. This is such a good idea! I have some citrus essential oils & a rosmary one that are hanging about unused & un-loved....now I know what i'm going to use them for :)
