I'm not really a gym person, (too many people! too many opportunities for conversation!) but after swimming, I like to get ready fast and get to the cafe for my celebratory cappuccino. And, since I can't wear flip flops with my compression stockings or stand in front of the mirrors for a long time without feeling like hogging them, slap-on-and-go products are a must.
My make-up bag I got as a present from a friend, but it seems to be from the artist Kelly Rae Roberts. (I'm not sure if it's not supposed to be a coin purse, but I love it for what I use it. I love it even more with the little slogan up front.) Definitely check out Kelly's website, it is beautiful.
The bareMinerals Complexion Rescue is something I ordered back in May, when there was a flash 20% off on FeelUnique (there's a theme with my high-end products - I got most of them on sale.) I will review this soon, but I've taken this thing with me on travel, on interviews, on a camping trip, and it has been just what I needed when I need to get my moisturiser, SPF and foundation on in a flash. Not the cheapest of products and not necessarily my skin's favourite, but it hasn't made things worse and that is important.
For a girl who isn't big on the eyes, I sure carry a lot of eye options around. (I do like to have options.) The Bourjois Colorband Eyeshadow and Liners are fantastic for a quick eye look, and I am so glad I picked them up. Living up to their claim of being smudge-proof and long-lasting, these puppies blend really well and leave me looking like I actually made an effort in the morning. The colours I have (02 brun dadaiste and 05 mauve fauviste) work really well together. They make me think of chocolate-and-blueberry ice cream.
I also carry my KIKO cream eyeshadow and my MAC Woodwinked eyeshadow - another combo I like. Interestingly enough, Woodwinked isn't as intense a bronze as the Bourjois eyeshadow, and it smudges out a lot easier, but I still really like it. I either combine it with the other eyeshadows, or wear them on their own with a bit of the Rimmel Scandaleyes eyeliner and the Maybelline Rocket Volume mascara (impulse purchase, but SO worth it.)
Finally, I bring whatever lipstick I fancy. This one by Maybelline I've had for ages and ages and really need to use up. However, what really makes it stand out is the formula and the colour - a deep, mauve pink - which doubles up quite nicely as a blush, when blended into my cheeks. Not a trick you can pull off with any lipstick, and mauve in particular, but with the right colours, it can really pull a look together.
Have you tried any of these? What's your go-to in-a-pinch make-up look?
