Urban Decay Naked 3 palette

What can I say, I've always had a thing for the underdog.

None of the bloggers I follow seem to like the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette. None. There is the obligatory excited video when it first arrives, maybe even a tutorial, but when it comes to "Make Up Products Worth the Hype," it's either the 1st or the 2nd that comes up on top. And I really don't know why - I've had this for about a year now, it was one of my first forays into higher-end make-up, and you know what, I love it!

Now, if you have spent some time in the beauty community, you know these puppies aren't cheap. I got mine during one of FeelUnique's sales, but I kept an eye out for it for months on various websites, just waiting for a good enough price reduction to snap it up. I'm a creature of habit when it comes to eyeshadow, you see. I could not imagine needing more than one or two. And, if I must be honest, I don't see myself buying either the 1 or the 2, or any of the current Basics. (If they come out with a Basics 3, then we can talk.) £38 for 12 eyeshadows is a bargain, but not if you never use these up. And I'm not one of those bloggers who can buy stuff for the sake of having them. I don't have enough room for those.

But.

But.

Once I did get my palette, I was like a convert. Yes, please, and thank you very much!

I don't think the swatches on my skin really give this palette justice. It's as they say, the Urban Decay formula is on point. These go on so smoothly on my lids, and they stay there, summer, autumn, winter or spring, no need for primer (though I did get some samples, those were nice. It's also very versatile, and I've been able to do tons of looks that work for work, school, daytime and nights out (on the rare occasions those happen.) I've worn this on my graduation day, on work interviews, on a winter ball where I had my heart broken, on boring days when I just wanted to have fun with my make-up... so many memories!

The brush that comes with the palette is also fantastic, and actually converted me to what a good make-up brush can do. Prior to that, I'd been using my fingers to apply my (cream) shadows, and I can see what a major difference it makes.

I feel like I want to do a week of eye looks with this palette, to show you what it can really do. But, some of my favourite combinations are: Burnout or Limit all over the lid, with Nooner in the crease; or Nooner all over the lid with Liar or Factory in the crease; Burnout and Trick, or Trick with Factory or Mugshot; or the matte colours (Strange, Limit and Nooner) with some of Buzz or Trick in the center of the lid for more definition. (Sad to say I'm not using Blackheart more, so that'll be my mission now!) Can't say I hate any of the shades, though I don't have much use for Dust or Buzz (too glittery) but again, I'd love to use these more.

The only bugbear I have with this is the packaging. One of the little things in the lid that keeps the palette closed broke off (because I dropped it) and now I'm afraid to carry it with me anywhere. It's really frustrating because otherwise, I'd be glued to this, but as is, I carry my eyeshadow crayons or my MAC Woodwinked when I travel. If they release a Naked 3 Basics palette, I'll be SO over that, you have no idea.

What's your favourite Urban Decay palette? Any other Naked 3 fans out there?
